How do I find out if I have attachment trauma?

Attachment trauma forms in the first years of life — whenever a child experiences that closeness, safety, or being truly seen aren't reliably there. This can involve verbal, emotional, or physical violence. Just as often, though, it's enough that parents were overwhelmed, absent, or emotionally unavailable — without anything obviously bad ever happening.

What matters is rarely a single major event. Far more often it's a dynamic that repeated itself: the same reaction, the same silence, the same withdrawal — over and over.

The child finds a way to cope. Either it adapts: suppressing anger, pulling back its needs, making itself small so as not to lose the bond with its parents. Or it takes the opposite path: detaching inwardly, becoming self-reliant early on — and losing the bond in the process. Neither is a conscious decision; it's simply the only way out the child has in that moment to survive.

What protects you as a child becomes a burden as an adult. The old pattern keeps running: in your body as stress, in relationships as closeness-distance chaos, as the feeling of having to constantly pretend — or as the struggle to let anyone get close at all. Your nervous system still repeats the same dynamic today, because it doesn't know secure attachment.

How I work

Attachment trauma arises from incomplete contact in your childhood — a pattern that continues to this day. That's why the solution isn't complicated either: completing that contact now.

Just as you are is completely enough. That's exactly where I meet you.

You don't need any knowledge about trauma. We don't need stories from your past either. It's about learning to communicate what's here in you right now. It's about communication.

I help you say out loud the things that are already there, and move through the fear of saying them. Because your system signals danger when you speak them. In the same way, I help you truly hear what the other person is telling you.

Healed means this: you can tell someone close to you the truth about what's going on inside you. And you can hear what's going on inside them. That's the foundation of an adult relationship.

My approach is inspired by the work of Gopal Norbert Klein.
